The Swedish Heavy Metal Band Morgana Lefay took their name from Morgan Lefay of Arthurian Legend. They recorded the album “The Secret Doctrine” in 1993. There are influences in some of the song lyrics from Milton, J R R Tolkien and Theosophy.

A band called Morgana Lefay still exists but is not the 1993 lineup.

The Secret Doctrine 1993

Album by Morgana Lefay

Lyrics of songs which show some Theosophical influence in addition to

those influenced by Milton and Tolkien

Rooms Of Sleep

This song is about summoning energies which one ultimately cannot handle. A common Theosophical theme and a situation about which, Theosophical literature has some dire warnings.

Dreaming - hagridden through my fear

By the circle of awakening

Stranger - take away the dark and

Save me from insanity

In this place unknown

They seek for souls

From the shadow zone

They're crawling into rooms of sleep

Creatures - are haunting my domains

Seeds of hell in my paradise

Screaming - dreaming that I dream

That I'm awake in this evil dwell

I am awake but I only dream

That I'm awake in the dream within

In a place unknown

They seek for souls

Hear the demons call

When they're crawling into rooms of sleep

Into rooms of sleep

Drowning - in my bed of pain

Falling deeper and deeper down

Stranger - take away the dark and

Wake me up from insanity

I am awake but I only dream

That I'm awake in the dream within

In a place unknown

They seek for souls

Hear the demons call

When they're crawling into rooms of sleep

Into rooms of sleep

What Am I

Disturbing images of uncontrollable anger. Thoughts

are things and as a man thinks, so he becomes.

In the darkness I see her shadow

As a lonely sad silhouette

I'm remorseful but my pride still

Is too strong to accept my regrets

I sit in silence crouched in a corner

I hear the hollow ticking of the clock

My mind is chasing thoughts that are fleeing

Oh god of mercy!

Do I know what I have done

I rest my head in hands that tremble

I'm repressing thoughts of what I am

I am scared of the power of my feelings

I can't bear the burden of the deeds

I can't trust the nature of my being

Cause my hate is fiery and profound

Each passing minute feels like an eon

Time seems unreal in the presence of death

I'm spinning deeper into my madness

Clinging on to traces of hope

I rest my head in hands that are shaking

I'm denying the facts of what I am

I close my eyes but the scene I'm seeing

Keep's repeating again and again

I can't leash the fury I'm feeling

I cannot break the circle of my rage

I can't trust the nature of my being

'Cos my hate is fiery and profound

Alley Of Oaks

A song about experiencing awareness

of the Elemental Kingdom

Let's take a walk a sunny day

And find those hidden roads

Which goes to secret places

And to magic nooks

Can you hear the whisperings

From the trees

They're fortelling memories

Creatures you've never seen catch

The gossip from the sizzling leaves

When we walk the alley of the oaks

To where those diffuse shadows loom

Underneath that mound of stone

There lives the beings of your denial

Shadows, luring eyes behind trees

and boulders, oh world of wonders

Can you see, can you see them

They are here closer than you

Wanted them to ever come to you

But it's for real not a fairy-tale

When we walk the alley of the oaks

To where those diffuse shadows loom

Was there something behind me?

What did move over there?

Hear voices and laughter

It's something else here!

Paradise Lost

Taken from Milton and putting the case for Satan

I am the lord of the fallen

The ultimate rebel from paradise

A philosopher free thinking breed

The sovereign of anarchy

Legionaries of every tribe

This is where we dwell

A place of eternal dusk

We are the dignitaries of hell

Here we shall rule

Even though it isn't hell

I will retake

My lost paradise

Into the garden of Eden

As a serpent I come to tempt

I offer you to taste the fruit

From the tree of knowledge

I make you a demigod

I give you my thoughts

I want to make sure that you will be

A rebellion to the trinity

Here we shall rule

Even though it isn't hell

I will retake

My lost paradise

Fallen into the abyss of fire

Fallen into the abyss of fire

Nowhere Island

This song is an interesting portrayal of someone lamenting missed opportunities in life from the perspective

of the early after death state

I miss the evenings the small talk that we had

I miss your presence the good things and the bad

I smell the morning air the colours of the dawn

Things that matter now when it's out of reach

All the things I took for granted

I do now esteem

Every thing that I neglected

I wish to redeem

In this silence on nowhere island

I can see the life I had passing by

In the place of dying I'm weeping crying

Too late to be forgiven for my sins and lies

In this nowhere I'm looking back on life

What was my vision in life before I died - I know

That this place of emptiness a castody for souls

Will not bring me back no one hear my calls

All the things I took for granted

I do now esteem

Every thing that I neglected

I wish to redeem

In this silence on nowhere island

I can see the life I had passing by

In the place of dying I'm weeping crying

Too late to be forgiven for my sins and lies

My destination the cold eternity

I will forever roam through infinity

And I am doomed to silence in this astral skies

I want to be again I wish I were alive

All the things I took for granted

I do now esteem

Every thing that I neglected

I wish to redeem

In this silence on nowhere island

I can see the life I had passing by

In the place of dying I'm weeping crying

Too late to be forgiven for my sins and lies

The Mirror

A song about altered states of consciousness

and a possible visit to the Astral Plane

What's beyond the chamber mirror

The evening coloured secret window

Is there just an inverted picture of

This room's reality

I have witnessed tiny little changes

Within that darkened reflected room

Things have altered seemingly in wrongful

Places of false dimensions

Hypnotised my soul is waiting

Horrified my senses fading

The mirror stares into my soul

Suspiciously I'm moving closer

And I wave my hand before me

In disbelief I watch the image of myself

Yet standing still

I'm staring deep into my eyes

Touch the mirror while I wonder why

In that moment my reflection grabs my arm

And pulls me through

To a room that is reversed

My common sense I feel it burst

The mirror takes what god forsakes

The mirror

Screaming - in silence

Staring out from the mirror

Reality - fades away

And I am locked beyond the mirror

Shadows - near me

Whisperings that scare me

Help me - take me out

Crush the mirror of despair

The mirror

Lord Of The Rings

Influenced by The Lord of the Rings by J R R Tolkien

Three rings for the eleven-kings under the sky,

Seven for the dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,

Nine for the mortal men doomed to die,

One for the dark lord on his dark throne

In the land of Mordor where the shadows lie

One ring to rule them all one ring to find them

One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

In the land of Mordor where the shadows lie"

The lord of the rings

The one of them all

The lord of the rings

Gets into your soul

Three rings in the elven-land defying the dark

The dwarf-lords have lost their rings three have been found

By the mortal men now bearing Sauron's mark

The war of the ring begins on evil ground

In the land of Mordor where the shadows lie

One ring to rule them all one ring to find them

One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

In the land of the dark lord where freedom dies

The lord of the rings

he one of them all

The lord of the rings

Gets into your soul

The Secret Doctrine

Apocalyptic imagery drawn from the Secret Doctrine. The song touches on the proposition that the Universe is all one thing and the cyclic nature of progress. The idea that “Armageddon already has begun” is probably a reference to the law of constant renewal.

In the secret doctrine I have read,

From the creation and its manifoldness has sprung

And that the hord of evil is not dead

And that armageddon already has begun

About forgotten places I have read,

And secret paths to heaven and hell

Names of angels, life and death

All that is mentioned clear and well,

In the secret doctrine of heaven and hell
